Meeting(s)

Hello All,

It's been a while since we have an updated post here on our blog, but
I'd like to get back to it again.

As I have mentioned, our next meetings will be on fridays, at apprx 6 at our members' house
please be there on time as i do not want the host or their family member to open the door for each person that is late, if you need a ride to the destination, let a driver know and ask them. I am certain there will be at least one driver who will be willing to drive you to and from.

After the meeting i asked that everyone clean up(not the house) the area we use, eat ebfore you come, focus and be alert, its 6pm, its late enough to be awake and early to sleep...

For the host, if possible if we are in your house, I ask that you will not get to comfy and your area, as i know how that feel when I am at home laying on the couch or running up and down the stairs.
Meetings will be an hour, so i want to get to the point, its no time for "what's your weekend plans"...you can do that after or if you come early, feel free, but not during
i will post here often, and maybe assign someone to post on facebook/email/call members about meetings/events.

If there any question, do ask me

Lastly, a big concern Co Hoa brought up to me is, make sure everyone let their parents know whats going on...that is why i will print out a calender givign you and/or your parents hard copy of what we are doing and where we will be at.

ooOH*Meeting this week October 23rd 2009 will be at Nick and Eric's house*

Upcoming Events (August)

August 9 - Di Hoa's BBQ

You have been invited to Di Hoa's/Phu's/Nhi's house this Sunday, August 9, 2009, after mass, for a BBQ. As you know, Di Hoa is an excellent cook and you won't want to miss out on this party! Unfortunately, An and Linh will be away in Canada (again!?) but nonetheless, you should be able to have fun if you try very hard. What am I saying? You always have fun when we're gone! No exception here. Make sure you show up and eat enough for Linh and me, okay?!

August 15 - An's Farewell Party

Mommy is going away to Hong Kong for four months! Come to my house and spend my last Saturday (August 15, from 6pm-11pm) in America for a while! It's pot luck since my parents aren't available to cook, so just comment here or on Facebook (preferably Facebook) and let me know what you're planning to bring! Since there will be a lot of people and ideally everyone will bring something, you don't have to make anything big. Unless you want to =D

Bryan, I expect something awesome from you! =D

Hello world! It's Linh....which means I have some more information on the Camping Trip!!! (applause)

So I have recently passed out the CIA permission form that you will need to get to Dinh by July 12th. Oh with the money. Cash only. Along with the CIA permission form, the Kittatinny Canoes requires each person to have a release form in case you guys die. Minors (17 and under) have a different form where they will have to get their parents to sign! Adults have their own forms. Below are the links to the forms. yes, you have to print them out. no scanning please.

here's the link to the campsite form for the 17 and under:

CLC National Gathering

URGENT!

Let us take a moment to remember this most awesome day of the year.

I do wish the sun would come out and celebrate.

No, but really, I do have some news. Remember the CLC National Gathering that was $300.00 for room and board, food, and the program? You now have the option of helping me and Linh do great things on a National level for half price! Well, there is a catch. Our Dong Hanh friends will host us so we don't have to pay the $100 for room and board and we'll go out and buy/make our own food so we don't have to pay the $100 for food. (You'll still need to bring money for this though, but it will definitely be less than $100 unless you're Luan) The remaining $150 is from $100 program fee for four days and $50 for the Saturday dinner.

Contact me (An) if you would like to attend. DO NOT REGISTER YOURSELF ON THE WEBSITE.

So, if you want to go, please please please let me know as soon as possible. Registration ends on June 28, meaning your payment must be RECEIVED by that date. Again, the CLC National Gathering will be in Washington D.C from July 9-12. My family will be leaving Wednesday night if anyone wants to hitch a ride.

If you truly want to go but are unable financially, CIA will pay a portion of your registration fee. That is, if you swear your service to me during the four-day trip. =D

An's Birthday Movie!

UPDATE on June 24!

The big day (June 26, engrave it in your memory) is arriving! In honor of An (that's me!) turning 21, we will meet at An's house at 4:00pm on Friday, June 26. We will then carpool and watch the matinee showing of Transformers 2 at 4:30pm at Cinemark so that each ticket only costs $6.00. Screw IMAX, it's overprices since apparently IMAX sucks at AMC and apparently Transformers 2 wasn't even made for IMAX.

Since the movie runtime is 2hrs30min, we should be back at my house around 7pm and enjoy some food together. Afterwards, I will go to Dave and Busters with some older folk, but you are welcome to trash my house until whenever.

More than meets the eye.

Anyhow, keep up with this blog--Linh will be adding information about the camping trip in the near future!

Oh, and Nick and all, you should now be able to leave comments without any registration. So do leave comments. =D

NEWS FLASH!

Mary Immaculate Center, the retreat area we've been enjoying our HMV's at for the last... well, I don't know, but as long as I can remember... years is CLOSING! Good thing we went last year and hopefully we'll still have a venue for future HMV's!

June 12th

Hello all,
It is Dinh, I am aware that I will lead the next meeting.
While I collect and gather all the things/ideas I need, i would like to ask everyone:
When's a good time to meet?
This coming Sunday is First Communion
The next is Father's Day
After that is End of CCD School year
I think Father's Day seem good, sincee we met on Mother's Day too
Well the main thing I wanted to share is our condolence to An and Linh's family during their Grandfather's passing away. If I may ask everyone, add them in your prayers.
And with finals and such, if you can there will be a viewing today (Friday June 12th) after mass at 6pm.
If you could not make it tonight, you can come on Saturday June 13th, with viewing at 9am and funeral at 10.
Again, please keep them in your prayers as I will do the same.
God Bless

June 7 - Meeting

Leader: Nick

Under Nick's leadership, we listened to the song Belief and heard the story of a very successful man who overcame his "handicap." We got a bit carried away when talking about our own "left hands" (who would have thought that's be such an exciting topic?) but I think we realize that our attributes are only "handicaps" if we choose to be limited by them. Furthermore, we influence how other people view themselves (mother's mentality shapes how the child views him or herself) so let's play our part well!

Did everyone enjoy today's lighting?

Next meeting's leader: Dinh
Time & Location: TBA

Upcoming Events (July)

We have an even more packed July planned.

July 9-12 - CLC National Gathering

This 4-day retreat-like thing will occur in Washington D.C. There are a whole bunch of payment options depending on how long you plan to stay and which days you plan to attend. To register and for more information, click here. More on this later. We've yet to decide if CIA will attend as a youth group.

July 19 - Church Annual Picnic
We are again in charge of the picnic games. Let's make sure we have an action-packed picnic like we did last year, complete with lemonade-induced vomiting, scarred palms from wheelbarrow racing, burns and blood from the three-legged race with rough ropes, and prizes from Five Below that people wanted to buy from our prize stand.

Some ideas for games: lemonade-drinking contest, wheelbarrow race, three-legged race, hoola-hoop competition, obstacle course, tug-of-war, etc.

Please contact me (An) if you have any ideas for this year's games (especially for younger kids; they felt left out last year) and prizes, or if you'd like to help in any of the above games or prize-buying. Let's do great things.

Intense wheelbarrowing. We could take 'em.

July 24-26 CIA Camping Trip
This is bound to be a highlight of our first year of existence so MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Currently, Linh is taking charge of preparing the food. All attendees will have to split the cost of food, so I would talk to Linh and make sure you like what she's planning. For the 2 nights in a random forest and 1 day of canoeing, the cost will climb to about $60. CIA will fund for a portion of the fee for active members only. The contribution from CIA will vary depending on the number of people who go.

"Outsiders" are welcome, as long as they are cool and chill with the rest of the CIA members (like Pauline and Anh Thu). Bring them to a meeting for judgement. We may need "outsiders" for a group discount. More information on this as it approaches.

That reminds me. There are a limited number of tents among our families. Go claim yours now.

Upcoming Events (June)

As you can see on the navigation panel, we've quite a few upcoming events in June. More on each of these:

June 7 - Meeting
Nick will lead our biweekly meeting in place of Luan, who will be going to his graduation instead. Why he would choose his graduation over CIA? The world may never know.June 26 - An's Birthday
This is the most important event of the year. An will be turning 21 and she encourages all to make her day special by watching Transformers 2 at Cinemark even though it comes out on the 24th. (Time: TBA) Call the dedicated drivers of CIA if you need a ride. Depending on An's mood (which things always depend on), we may go out and do something else afterwards.

June 28 - CCD End of Year
Our school year is unfortunately ending late this year. Oh well, we still get to enjoy free food that we can hoard since we'll probably be serving the kids. ATTENTION TEACHERS! Remember to have your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place students determined by June 14.

new website

Welcome!

This site should be a lot easier to manage. Hooray for CIA's latest trip: Belmar Beach! Looking forward to our CAMPING TRIP!

Hard to tell what a chilly day it was with the amount of skin you guys are showing =]

We look mighty chilly. Pauline's hair rivals Cloud's at defying gravity.

Please join us for our next meeting this Sunday, June 7, at 1pm in the pool room. Peace!
